In September 2020 Russell Roads successfully tendered for Waka Kotahi’s realignment of College Road to Silverstream Station on SH2. The works include straightening and widening a 1.7 kilometre section of highway with a new southbound passing lane with wider shoulders and median and side barriers, which will improve the safety and efficiency of this key freight route between Hawke’s Bay, the Manawatū and Tairāwhiti.

Construction is expected to take 14 months, finishing in December 2021. One of our main goals as we build the project will be to minimise disruption. Most of the construction work will be ‘offline’, with our crews working alongside the existing highway, which will reduce delays to road users.

This is a very exciting project for us and we are looking forward to working with Waka Kotahi, Stantec and the community to deliver great results for this important project.
