CHBDC Network Area Wide Pavement Treatments

Location: Central Hawkes Bay
Client: CHBDC
Value: NZ $2,252,000
Completed: March 2018

About the Project

This contract is for the construction of five pavement rehabilitation sites within the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council’s (CHBDC) road network.

Large volume cuts/fills were undertaken to create the extra width required for the project. Shoulder undercuts and associated widening were created. The existing road surface was milled and removed to council nominated stockpiles where it was recycled into their unsealed maintenance operation as dust suppression trials.

Two distinctly different types of pavements were laid on this contract. Non-stabilised pavement consisted of subbase and basecourse overlays, and with the only AP65 subbase material laid to finished height and directly stabilised to finish surface standards. All sites were sealed with a two coat Grade 3/5 chipseal.
