Marine Parade Re-Development

Location: Marine Parade, Napier
Client: Napier City Council
Value: NZ $4,030,000
Completed: August 2017

About the Project

The redevelopment of this key waterfront site on Marine Parade in Napier has given new life to the area by connecting the city to its coastline and replacing a waterfront carpark with a significant public space that reflects the natural and cultural landscape of the bay.

Starting with lookout points aligned with Mahia and Cape Kidnappers, pathways lead you past the reflection pool, a series of bubble-up water features and between an interactive feature pool with LED-lit computerised water jets and the open public court space surrounded by timber whalebone structures that offer shelter and coastal outlooks.

This new coastal public space also includes and a mix of complimentary spaces, including; cravings sculpted garden edges and undulating lawn spaces engaging with the sea and city.

This project gave Russell Roads a unique opportunity to showcase our diversity and range of skills while providing the public with a fantastic addition to Marine Parade for all parts of the community and visitors alike.
