Middle Road – Area Wide Pavement Treatment

Location: Havelock North
Client: Hastings District Council
Value: NZ $1,080,000
Completed: February 2020

About the Project

This contract was for the construction of approximately 1375 m of Middle Road to improve road user safety by widening the road in alignment with the expected increase of heavy vehicles from farming and logging activities.

Large cut faces were excavated increasing sight visibility at the southern end of the work on the right-hand side by cutting back the bank and increasing the shoulder width throughout the length of works. Existing subgrade was lime stabilised to achieve required CBR, followed by subbase cement stabilisation with a basecourse overlay. The final surface was a two-coat grade 3/5 chip seal.

This contract is a showcase of the skills and experience of Richard Gazzard (Earthworks Supervisor) and Rob Anderson (Pavement Supervisor), delivering quality outcomes within budgets, ahead of programme.
